At the end of 2021, I documented every single item in my refrigerator and pantry. I had recently moved in with my partner and was new to managing a diagnosis that requires strict dietary restrictions. As a child, I was taught how to keep track of the food we had at home, create a shopping list, and grocery shop for the week. I found that my new circumstances challenged my ability to maintain the virtual catalog of food in my head and decided to create playful physical reminders in the form of magnets and lists.
A year in grocery lists
Typewriter text on handmade recycled paper

I am interested in exploring the use of information-keeping devices to store information that is no longer needed. Each week’s grocery shopping list is only functional for that one shopping trip. Using a typewriter, I transcribed my grocery lists from 2022 onto recycled handmade paper made with old newsprint circulars. I then turned these lists into cards for the Rolodex as a way of displaying them.
